Lets Holiday: 6 Things to Look for When Booking Accommodation

sponsored post / Thank you for supporting the companies that keep bettybake.co.za going

Lets play a game of - DAYDREAM: Holiday EDITION... Sounds fun and distracting doesn't it?
We are at that part of the year where Christmas was too long ago, that the relaxed feeling has long rubbed off and Easter isn't quite close enough to be in reach of holiday relief! (do you know what I mean?)

But instead Im going to distract myself with pretty pictures of accommodation and ideas of what could be and Im going to start booking some accommodation for later in the year now.
So please join me on this mini post of holiday bliss and my crazy list criteria of what I need (from accommodation) to book time away.
Maybe you are not as picky as me - Maybe all you need is a tent and a patch of dirt... me I just can't!

RULE 1:  Pictures
I need to see pictures! Im one of those people that when we book time away - I need to see photos of the decor, furniture and kitchen. If I can't see myself relaxing in the spot (with decor that I like) it definitely a no-go from me.
I sound crazy (don't I?) but I just know it won't be nice for me and holidays are meant to be nice AND relaxing after all.

The husband is on leave so I am happily drinking coffee and wine tasting and ignoring regular life... as much as possible (there are still dishes but eating out means less of them :) YAY!

If you would like to see what I'm up to follow me on instagram (@bettybake)
or twitter

See like this Caramel Mousse cake that I found at a nearby town Patisserie .... bliss!
Of course I Instagramed it!

My daughter actually ate it (it was wheat-free) but not before I photographed it and took a bite ;)

See you soon!

Radio Silence

Radio Silence ....

So here I am staring at the computer screen. Cursor flashing back at me, daring me to write something brilliant and worthy of awesomeness.

But then I realized I should probably leave it to the pros for amazing writing and just be me :)

So hi. I'm back from our 3 week family holiday and ready to get my life back in gear.
Being away from the computer so long has made me lazy for writing and editing and organizing in digital world. I loved being in nature and seeing all the animals and the beautiful countryside ... but now I am home back in suburbia and needing to get back to work, life and routine.
It has its ups and downs... Ups like I get to have a morning cup of coffee all by myself and breathe the fresh smell of the morning and just think and plan *bliss*
Downs because its back to washing (clothes), sorting, lifting, homework (the kid), more washing (dishes) and just schedules of ballet and play dates and suppers etc.... and not enough time to take photos of food and edit and type out recipes - I need to get my groove back.

In short please bare with me... I'm trying and will be back.

camping and the weekend away

Well it wasn't exactly camping - more like a chalet on the Goukou river but it was braaing. Located on an organic veggie farm we were allowed to pick vegetables of our choice for ourselves to braai or cook with. Fresh veggies are so delicious and i think that we don't know what we are missing having bought store bought vegatables most of our lives - they are just not as tasty and good. My husband and daughter just loved them (me too) and the flavours so diverse and immense it has urged me to plant more vegetables of my own. (i occasionally grow my own baby tomatoes). Looking for easy vegatables to grow i have opted for peas, broccoli, potaoes, sweet potaoes and .... mmmm maybe green beans. Lets hope they grow easily enough.

so from those really cool and delicious vegetables on the farm i made veggie parcels out of foil - inside them i  put the veggie combos of my choice with olive oil, salt and pepper and herbs :)
Put on the hot coals of the braai and turn often - enjoy with your meat of choice on the braai.
And of course don't forget a good salad and a glass of wine for the hubby :)
