Bling party on www.bettybake.co.za
THE THEME
Earlier this year I created my daughters 8th birthday party, this included improving on last years party.
Once a theme was settled (there was much changing of minds and going back and forth before we settled on the idea!) we created the invitations.
COLOUR SCHEME / DECOR
Once we had the theme BLING! we knew everything about the party had to be shiny, sparkly and bling!
I started with a neutral white colour palette and then added gold and silver (and touches of pink)
THE LAYOUT
The party was also divided up into 3 areas:
1) the eating area (where all the food was displayed)
2) the drinks area (where the girls could help them selves and make their own drinks)
3) the activity area (where the girls made things and played party games)
Please take a look: we are so happy how the party came out!
I sprayed an old frame gold and placed jars with water and gold sequins on the table
I recycled small jars and sprayed the lids gold and filled them with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Yum - Ice Cream with hundreds and thousands
I sprayed quite a few other things gold too - including these pears.
In the open drawer of our white desk I put cupcakes (in gold liners) and hidden in a closed drawer for later were the party packs for when the girls went home.
I also used some of the gold cupcake liners to make the garland hanging in the background.
ACTIVITIES:
In the Activity area we had a silver blanket and cushions on the grass under a tree
We played pass the parcel on the silver blanket and then did an activity
In the pink packets (fastened to the grid with gold pegs) was a sewing activity for each of the girls to do
Sew your own pink purse
Nothing says bling quite like a sparking chandelier! So we hung one in the tree above the silver blanket.
Which looked much more impressive in the evening when the family was around but the girls had already left!
The chandelier was made with 2 recycled lamp shades and lots and lots of ribbon and beads!!!
DRINKS:
The girls could make their own sparkling water on a old retro soda stream machine and then mix it with fruit juice
Which of course had to have sparkling glitter flag straws
CAKE:
The cake from the previous year had been such a hit (it was a rainbow cake) that my daughter asked for a repeat but in pink!
I didn't do as many layers as the previous years cake... and in this picture its not clear to see but it does go from dark to light.
PARTY FAVORS
When it came time to go each girl got a little wrapped slab of chocolate and their party pack
Later that evening the family came round for a small family birthday party to celebrate with the birthday girl
So we filled up the plates with the left over cupcakes and snacks.
And ate a second birthday cake .... this time a chocolate cake with GOLD ICING!
And then we were exhausted and put the birthday girl and ourselves to bed!
The birthday girl pleased as ever with the gluten free goodies for her to eat.

LOVE this post. Everything looked fabulous x

ReplyDeleteHi Nasheta
DeleteI sprayed the pears gold with gold spray paint... they weren't for eating - just decoration!!
For the chocolate cake I used gold dust from the baking shop and sprinkled it all over the icing :)

ReplyDeletehi Vicki
Deletebuy gold icing colouring/dust - for colouring the icing- but instead of mixing it in, rather sprinkle on top of the icing and blow :)
