Last month I had the privilege of attending a rather scrumptious lunch at the Cape Grace which was paired with whiskey... yes you heard me, not wine but beautiful and golden, amber whiskies.
Thanks to Checkers who are importing some beautiful whiskies and branding them under Private Barrel Co. Each bottle is brought to SA in limited numbered batches.
The limited batches made it feel very luxurious and special - I felt like if you didn't get a bottle when the batch is brought out then you run the risk of not getting it again - so when its gone its gone! I think that gives it a nice exclusivity
We had such a beautiful lunch on a beautiful warm day at the Cape Grace.
This dessert was so good and was paired with a Mortlach 14 year old whisky
Although I know very little about whisky I really enjoyed the beautiful pairing that Malika van Reenen (head chef) and the whisky team put together.
The Whiskies that were paired with food were:
Benrinnes - 15 yr old
Glenlossie - 15 yr old
Glen Grant - 17 yr old
Mortlach - 14 yr old
Oh and the after lunch dark chocolates were beautiful.... I have no photos to prove how delicious they were as they all got eaten up very quickly!
