Chefs Table at The Protea Hotel President Bantry Bay

What a view of the sunset in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, SA.
Recently I had the opportunity of being invited (plus a partner) to dine at the chefs table of The Protea Hotel President in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.

And very kindly they offered for us to stay the night too - yes it was a tough job eating food and being a food blogger for this but you know someone has to bear this burden ;)

The sunset that evening was beautiful and the buildings around looked cool with there lit up windows contrasting the sea and sky.

After checking into our room and photographing it, we went down to dinner.

Tasting menu at The Protea Hotel President with Chef Norman Heath:

The Protea Hotel Presidents chef is Norman Heath. A short and friendly fellow who clearly knows his way around a kitchen and loves to smoke things to infuse flavour. His rooibos smoked cheese cake is a great example.

For dinner we got to try small starter portions of food - 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts. And even though eat portion was small by the end of it all we were SO FULL!!!!

Chef Norman Heath did a lovely job of each and every course of food. I asked for vegetarian options and had some really good food to eat too.

Clearly the meat dishes are my husbands ... He said they were delicious.
Each course was paired with wine.

I can highly recommend the dark chocolate mousse - it was delicious!

After some lovely chats and very full stomachs we retired to our rooms for a good nights sleep.
And woke up to this beautiful, misty, early morning view. Hazy and smelling of sea spray.

PLEASE NOTE: I was invited to stay and eat at The President Protea Hotel. I was not paid to blog about this and all photos and opinions are my own.
